Iran to Hand Over Remains of 1,200 Iraqi Soldiers Soon

QASR-E SHIRIN - Islamic Republic of Iran will hand over some 1,200 remains of Iraqi soldiers recovered in search operations to Iraqi officials on Sunday, IRNA reported.

The representative of the Iranian Armed Forces Joint Staff's Recovery Committee, Colonel Alireza Gholami, said the remains will be unofficially handed to Iraq at the Khosravi borderpoint in return for 570 remains of Iranian soldiers.

Gholami stressed that the exchange will be the biggest ever at the Khosravi border.

He further said that Sunday's exchange of remains will increase the number of swaps of soldier remains between the two countries to 48 batches since 1991.
